Far better choice... try to steal coins off of them. They all have coins, but they don't always drop them. If you steal during combat, you have multiple chances to get their coin. If you wait to see if they drop it, you have but one.
And if you haven't done so already, make sure you're spawning monsters at the highest rate. Otherwise you could be there for a while...
