I have seen no specific bonuses. By the end of the game, though, most of my party is at level 24 for all stats and level 12/14 for most skills.
It's important to leave at least one skill below 12. Otherwise, when you level up you will have skill points to assign and no place to put them...
And you can't move on until you put them somewhere...
