i dont ever remember getting nailed by a flamestrike in that battle. IIRC i hasted all my guys b4 entering the room and sent my tanks after Sarovok and had my other guys nailing the dopplegangers....i tink once you do enough damage to sarevok he takes off. someone correct me if i'm wrong. have you tried attacking the mage who is flamestriking you? maybe just enough to disrupt his spells anyway.
