I agree on the playing styles and other options. My point stems from this fact: in every game I have played, except perhaps my first one, sorcery was at or near 12 by the end of the game no matter when I started spending skill points on it. It goes up naturally by use, and it goes up specifically by allocating skill points. It also remains on the skill chart until the end of the game, and is, IIRC, the only non-trainable skill on there.

So that's a large part of the reason why I don't allocate points to it early; they'll be allocated later, and if I spend them all there early on, I won't be able to get some of the other skills up to a decent level. Missy currently has level 8 in Gallantry and 6 in Prowess (or vice versa); they will not rise any more in the game, as I don't see them reappearing (except perhaps when she moves to warlock).

I don't dispute the benefits of a greater sorcery level at all, and if I were able to update the other skills later, I'd definitely play differently.

And again: three opinions now, each of them correct. That's the beauty of the game.
