IIRC killing the sphinx isn´t that hard like Bungleau said. Something to keep in mind is, the tougher the monster the better ranged combat skill. So when facing a high level monster do your fighting hand to hand. An exception is that griffon outside the Stout Mines. Useful spells are the storm ones (duuh

). When fighting hand to hand you can dodge their attacks, that´s impossible with spells...
