Yeah, it's a mystery to me but both doors are shut tight and I don't have those spells you mentioned. I even thought about going up again and making some points so my monk could progress and get one of those spells but I can't get back up because the lift is not working any more.

Thanks for replying but I'm still stuck. Unfortunately, I would have to start completely over at the beginning of the Shrine. You shouldn't have to save every 5 minutes of the game and we're only allowed 6 save files.
