Hmmm... I've not run into or heard of that before, Sandar. In my experience, doors that are opened stay opened.

If you're really stuck, you could go back out to the lake and cast Call of Home (if you have it), or perhaps Teleport to your last portal. That would at least get you on the right side of the shrine so you could start over. You might also try Vanishing yourself inside the Shrine to see if you can get to the right side of the door.

I haven't monkeyed around with the levers a whole lot, so I don't recall if there's a magic sequence to make it all work out. AFAICT, you're just lucky.
