Well -
You could reload a game from before having killed him.
Or you can use the key that you should have gotten from him and look for the secret room off the throne room to get some Dragon Armor which will allow you to enter the Dragon Spire.

(I'd reload! and if you don't have a save from not too long ago before you killed him - learn to save more often!
