I think I found a pickaxe just lying on the ground - probably around the same area where you find the missing parts of the other trolley. You don't want to kill one of the miners for a pickaxe!
Some areas are pretty dark so either cast some light or use Spirit Eye when you search, that should help you spot items more easily.
