My warlocks are about level 5 sorcery all done by using level-up points (as befits spellchuckers they have high intelligence).
I also don't think you can raise skills like prowess and gallantry at the guilds.
Would it be an idea to put a post on top tips board pointing out that players should note that they have to raise these skills themselves by using level-up points?
I'm sure I'm not the only one to have taken some time to have found this out.
