I had the same problem. I knew that I needed to wait until I got the quest, but I couldn't figure out how to get the quest. I finished the first quest, but never got confirmation.

However, I finally got past that by going into the Temple with my Priest and just waiting for the guy to confirm that I'd given the potion to Mekdawa. Once that was done, I went into the Guild, accepted the second quest, paid the $500 gold to finish it, then I accepted the third quest.

I went into the Temple so many times that I couldn't understand why the first quest wasn't confirmed. Problem was that I kept going into the Guild too quickly.

Give that a try!
