All you have to do is stand in a spot where you know he'll be walking by sooner or later, and ZAP the little bugger as he goes by!
Yes, he'll "Vanish" you and MAYBE cast an annoyance of a damaging spell, but nothing to worry about. The only problem I had was getting caught off guard by a few Jungle Lillies one night while stalking the "Leper". Eventually he'll keel over and meet Kerah on the other side, if you know what I mean. You'll get some good exper. points from him, and his staff, which is a pretty good one that IS blessable! I used it for quite some time in the game. Killing him or letting him live won't effect your finding his treasure in the least! Have fun!
