You can find AKU by taking the south exit from the PIT - Follow that path around until it is heading directly north - Aku is at the very northmost point.

I've put Painbringer's post on Blessing and Enchanting into the BEST TIPS thread - check page 5. It is an excellent post on what you need to do!
