It's not the dragonshard door, for then you wouldn't have been able to get the Mavin.
Did you wait for the narrator to finish his speech before grabbing the Mavin? Sometimes doing that will not trigger the door opening. Click on the Mavin altar again as if you were taking the sword, listen to the speech, and the door should open...let's hope so, at least.
If not, do you have the spell Vanish? You can cast it right at the door and pop out on the other side.
