I actualy encountered this problem once again last night. The Short Party where not amused. I recently decided to let them catch up with my main party (the finished one). Killing Xyzunomi wasn't as easy without bloodlust (I'd sold the potions to aford poison curing services earlier) and poor old Sigurd was having to mend everybodies weapons (fighting the Naga seems to do a lot of damage to you're weapons, they'll break about two third of the way through unless you have bloodlust runing, or heroic might or someone mending them every two or three attacks, they can mend whilst paralised but I had to reload every time one got turned to stone).
