As Tananda noted you don't miss out on much when you miss getting the key. If you had a saved game from before that time you can reload and get it. If you really want it, I can also hack you a Heretic's Key but that will take some time. I've got a very busy weekend ahead of me and already have a hack waiting to be completed.
