You have to use one of the two crystals in either receptacle on the west side of the chamber. I'd recommend the one in the southern chamber, to get the Wizard's Jindol...better path with more XP and better items.
You can get both, though, by "leaping" up to the altars and grabbing the Jindols from them. You'll have to go through the paths separately though, of course.
