Welcome to the board, Arnok!
You have to accept a quest from Scanthril (it's a 2 part quest). When you complete the quest he GIVES you the assassin's dagger. If you just killed him without doing the quest and getting the dagger from him (alive) then you didn't get the dagger.
Can you restore your game to before having killed him??
If you can't, let me know.
