Turn up the game GAMMA - (computer options menu, graphics screen) that might help!
You are in a tricky area - you need to go west - west and then north to find the statue - I've gotten lost in this area myself even after I've had it mapped! lol!!
(I know Moni is already replying to you too!)
You might consider just wandering around the shore of the lake and fighting monsters until daylight comes - good EX if nothing else!
