Are you playing with the patch? I am playing with the patch and never had ANY problems with my mules. On my last adventure, my mules kept valuable items for me (Mavin Sword, Shroud of Elsara, Death Staff, Dragon Armor, anks, $$$) and they never lost anything.
I did all my transaction in the inns and I never took my mules out to save the games. I personnally thaught the mules to be VERY reliabe.
Either I'm lucky or something is wrong.
