KattB: they're worthwhile later in the game, especially after you get past Brimloch Roon. Before that, there's not too much you find that's worth blessing, with the exception of Jewel Rings, Silver Rings, and the bracelets the rogues always drop (forget what they're called, stupid me; I've picked up scads of them..)

P.S. Get at least one ring, bless it with "Pro Fire" enchantment, and put it on your lead character when wandering the shire. Erathsmedor can blow smoke all he wants to and it won't affect you a bit.
