That's not true. When you win the final battle, the game creates an autosave that is right before your final battle. If you want to continue on with TOSC at this point, you just load that autosave and track back out of the thieves' maze. The game was supposed to automatically teleport you to Ulgarth's Beard when you do this, but it doesn't (at least for me), so you have to tediously head back through the maze and continue on from there. I've just finished all the TOSC quests except for the final battle in Ulgarth's Beard. After that I'm going to head back to the temple to beat up Sarevok one last time, and then it's off to BG2!
