Nope. He's just got "Erzebettitis": An uncommon tendency on the parts of NPCs to completely ignore any information regarding the quest you just performed for them!
Erzebette, Torin, Talrik, Jathil, and Mekdawa all suffer from this. Gorthius probably would have as well, except he mercifully died soon, LOL!
