After finishing up the Catacombs under Candlekeep (ch.5 or 6?) and then the subsequent cave/secret passage, I ran into a technical problem of sorts.
After leaving the "cave area" and reaching the outside area of the Candlekeep walls, my game started to slow down to the point where the screen's frame rate was all but frozen.
I would point/click to the area where I wanted my party to walk to and it would take them LITERALLY two minutes to get there!
I restarted my computer thinking that maybe my RAM (128) had been exhausted from running other programs earlier in the day.
When I loaded up a saved game from within the cave the frame rate and or game speed ran normally with no problems.
However as soom as my party was outside the CK walls, the problem began again.
This may or may not be important, but upon leaving this underground cave I cannot recall the game initiating a request for me to put in the possible corresponding CD.
Note: I am running TotSC and have a total of six different discs, whenever I load up a new game it asks me for CD-6 aka the TotSC disc.
So when I initially loaded up my saved game from within the 'cave/tunnel area' I had CD-6 in, but when I left the cave to go to the outside of the CK walls, the game DID NOT request of me to put in a different corresponding disc, say... CD-5 or CD-1.
After about ten minutes (that's literally how much time it took) of walking around the walls, I left and was able to go to the city of BG and while there the game DID ask me for the corresponding disc and I had NO problems with game speed.
But now I have another problem that maybe one of you nice folks could help with.
After killing Mr. Prat and his gang within the cave area, I found and read the letter/note on his body, which said that Sarevok was heading back to BG, presumably the Iron Throne Tower, the Flaming Fist HQ, or Dunchal Palace.
And upon leaving the cave area I met up with one of Sarevok's lackeys, forgot his name, but it starts with a "D", and naturally, I decided to kill him even though he said that he wanted to just walk away without any hard feelings.
I obviously didn't get any reputation loss from the kill, but neither did I get much of any exp points from him (24 I think?), so I assume that he wasn't someone that I should/needed to kill.
Did I screw up some important game sequence by killing this fella?
Oh and also, was I supposed to meet someone outside the CK walls BEFORE going to BG?
Because I didn't go snoopin around CK since my game was moving at such an oddly slow pace.
BTW, when I went back to BG I went to the three aforementioned places and saw no one of any importance, was there supposed to be someone there to talk to?
And two last things, I went back to CK and of course experienced the same damn problem, so I decided to put in the possible correct disc to see if it had an effect on the game speed and both CD-1 and 5 did nothing to fix the speed problem.
Also I have NO MORE saved games from BEFORE the initial glitch outside of CK.
I hope someone can help me out here, I would hate to see the 150 game-days that I have played, go down the drain!
