The character must be female and must be the one to throw the Lich's heart on the black fire.
I never played a female character so I never had a Valkyrie, so beyond that, your guess is as good as mine as to where to report to after the deed is done.
I would assume the Temple, being that she learns Spirit spells, but she can also acquire spells from the book of Stone which is based in the Wizard's Guild. Maybe either of these choices would work. One or the other at least would be my best guess.
