I'm playing for the third time now, and still have not used a single way to increase my gold apart from finding it, selling things and doing quests. I admit I spend a fair amount of time running up and down with stuff to sell, esp. with my single character now. Then I use identify and forge skill and merchant trait to increase my benefits. That way I can do the basics, and sometimes a bit more. I think that is balanced: you'd end up with super characters if you could do unlimited enchants, and have all skills at level 12 when you've reached character level 12. You don't need training skills you already have: you can increase them at level up. Training is extra, and there is enough money to do it once a while.
A six character party gains levels much slower, so they can train less often.
Actually I think I like this: even far into the adventure you still have use for gold, and even in Brimloch Roon you have to choose where to spend your money on.
