I have used no gold cheats and I suffered being broke forever until I guess around the Stout Mines...raiding the King's Treasury through the one room Raskillion had access to really helped, as little as it was.
I also discovered that contrary to popular belief, exploring new areas at night was beneficial as there were more frequent encounters and the enemies you could get items from after offing them had better stuff than what you would see in the daylight hours...the lil Rat Packs & Thieves in particular.
In Brimloch Roon at this point, beginning the Temple Shrine quest with 115,000 + GP and all members of the party in training through each guild that they are members of. Not bad, I think, for not cheating!
