Okay, if you're at the Library, return upstairs to the room with 3 exits. Turn left, and go down the long sloping hallway. This should put you back in the room where you did the Summoning with the big Snake head. You can then exit the temple by following the pathways east.
Alternatively, if you're of a masochistic frame of mind, you can also return to the Main Altar room, go back up to the Elevator, and jump down the the lower level. You'll be back inside the Snake head, and can exit from there. You will take damage from the fall, however, but it is quicker.
