The Ancient Lore trait is automatically granted to Warlocks. However, you can't learn Artifacts until you're at least level 4 in a guild. You'll be level 4 in the Wizard Guild when you return Ardibren's Relic from Shurugeon castle, if you've done the other 3 Wizard guild quests from Valeia.
NOTE: Warlocks may also join the Priest guild, and should do so. The Priest guild is the only place you can use the "Artifact of Fiends" spell to add damage points to weaponry. You can also get Artifacts through the Priest guild.
