Actually, my first party was more or less that:

human barbarian, dual wielding axes
aasimir paladin, longswords
drow cleric, staves
halfling thief, dual short swords
human mage
human sorcerer

I can't remember if I ever beat the game or not, but I did get to I and M. This was back when the game first came out, I played it and retired it until recently.

No, it won't be hard for me to get no stats under 8. You underestimate me

(now, it may be physically painful and break my most solemn oaths, but I can handle it)
