Interesting discussion on Rangers here chaps.
I can see both points of view. Whilst I agree with Gimli in that Ranger's have been denied some potentially very nice class based archer skills/bonuses, I also see Luvian's point in that the sterotype should be refuted and that they shouldn't necessarily get these skills on that alone.
Still, the option to do so would have been fantastic, as I'd have taken extra archer abilities over dual wielding any day.
My memories of the potent pepper-master ranger Kivan from BG1 (sadly not around in Bg2) are too good to stop thinking about Archery and Rangers in the same sentence.
