That last chamber is a fairly tough battle. In my first game I used a pure Monk all the way through and it wasn't so bad. This time I had a Monk but he was part thief so a little weaker. So this time I used a combination, of Druid, Fighter, and Cleric to make it through the chambers. The Cleric was best for the area with all the little spiders, and the last chamber. He just cleaned up the spider area due to that spell that surrounds him with blades. In the fire area I used a combination of Heal, and the throwing items from the wall, while avoiding the fire, and not going toe to toe with them close combat until I had first killed one using the throwing axes and darts. A priest of Tempos works quite well in this room due to his proficiency with axes, and ability to heal himself if he needs to. The thing with midgets is they seem to have shorter legs and are a little slower running away from the fire. My dwarf fighter got roasted in this room despite all his hit points and that is why I switched to the human cleric. A Monk is great because it evades the fire most of the time, can heal himself once to get a few hit points back, and does not have to run to the wall for the weapons.
