1. "third" level? There are only 2 levels in the ice temple.
2. Battlesquares. IIRC, you need to complete at least one rank to complete the 2nd level of the Ice Temple. There are a decent number of good rewards for completing various ranks of the B.S. game. It takes a minimum of 250 individual battles to complete BS. It's worth it to finish it once, for the challenge, the XP, and the rewards.
3. You need to flip a mirror. But you also need to redirect the lightning gun using one of the levers in the lightning gun room. (1 level changes the aim of the LG, the other fires it. No mystery.)
