A couple points.

1. Are you sure that you're clicking on the "Turn Undead" button?

2. Turn Undead uses the cleric's (or paladin's) CHA bonus as a modifier. If your cleric or pally has a really low CHA, it will hurt Turn Undead.

3. Are you playing Normal or HoF mode? Turn Undead in HoF mode is basically useless. However, a cleric with a decent CHA can be awesome turning undead in Normal Mode.
