Madrigal: They are on a ship from Luskan to Targos to help because they were going to get the goblins to escort them to Isair and Madae. But then they went 'good', and so they are now carving their way through the goblin ranks to get to Isair and Madae to kill them...
Nightowl: They are level thirty because they are drow. Realistically, the game (well IWD1 at least) has to make drow as easy as they are, otherwise it would be too hard. I think that all drow in real life (well the real life in books) are at least level 25... and these are exceptional drow.
