Did you break into the armoire in his bedroom? I'll bet he didn't like that, because he didn't like it when I did that, either. The problem is that you cannot kill him, because your game will end due to the death of a character who is "central to the plot". Whatever.
Just go around him; he may cast a spell if he sees you, but he won't move from his post. You can compelte the Ice Temple without him, so don't worry.
