That's not completely accurate; the top guys do have some decent stuff on them. The regular troops have nothing worth mentioning.
However, if you take out the duergar in their fortress, and if you were able to help the weaponsmith with make his doombolter, you can get a hellbolter (3 shots per round xbow) from his body.
