Isn't the magic missile wand unrestricted regarding who can use it? I've given it to a cleric for quick disruption of opposing spellcasters.
I believe it also works when the character is silenced, so it's a useful item to have in desperate situations.
Edit: the Wand of Magic Missiles only shoots one missile; Pemby's Wand of Many Missiles, however, shoots three at a time.
