I don't think you can miss with shocking grasp at least I have never missed when I use it. I never use Chill Touch, or ghoul touch because I miss with it every time I try to use it so these spells have been a disappointment for me.

Both Shocking grasp and Vampiric Touch I have used with great success, and well Burning hands is always nice to finish off Trolls and there are enough of them.
