1. Yes, I used a pure fighter the first time through IWD with a six member party, but as I generally play smaller parties, I always multi/dual class them.
2. Human or dwarf, they just seem more fighter-ish.
3. Yes. No reason not to, unless you play an archer character.

5. Bows.
6. No, Fighters are too plain (read:boring) as a single class.
