No in IWD alignment does not matter to much, and in a way it is good to have a mix of characters to be able to use some of the many items found. Even from a role playing perspective it is OK. Just think how a bunch of people get started on the journey and due to an avalanche their is no turning back or leaving until they complete their goal.

I mix in BG as well, sometimes it is fun. Ever been on a camping trip with a few people you just love to hate.
