For general questions, follow the link in my sig and start reading--if there's anything you need to know about Baldur's Gate, chances are that it's in there.

The Edwin question is probably a bug. Is he really anxious that you go kill the witch Dynaheir? If you recruit him back into your party and then drop him again, does he shut up?
