Ya, at least that is what happened on my last game. They don't do much damage though only like 1pt on a sucessful hit. I was like "Oh look at the cute squirrels" Then I relized they were hitting me for points of damage so I killed them all. The squirrels that come after are much easier to kill however. I had the Project Auril mod installed as well but i think it was likely to have happened without the mod.
