Don't worry, you didn't loose out. The 'Razorvine extract' quest isn't crucial to the game. The 'secret' door he is talking about is just the entrance to the next level of Dorns deep. The one with the drow and orogs in it. There is no true secret door.
The seeds are located in another part further on.
