I also got right to the end and am having troubles disposing the final mutha.
I have a well-balanced team of six characters - or so I thought. the party consists of a bard, fighter, paladin, fighter/thief, fighter/cleric and conjurer.
I picked up some +3 (or was it +4) arrows and equipped the fighters, paladin and the bard with 'em. I hit the mutha with these arrows and I can manage to get him hurt eventually but then I get frustrated and quit the game. All benefitial spells are practically useless as it gets dispelled and having the other boggies chasing usually the conjurer is painful. Fire is a friend of the mutha so fire-based spells don't work on the last mutha. In fact, I don't think any spells from the mage or the cleric does any damage to the main foe.
The tactic seems to be hit 'em with these arrows and with weapons of +4 while the mage heals the party. The conjurer usually is been chased and is useless in attack.
I have left the last battle alone for a while, hoping that refreshing might help me in defeating this last mutha. I am about to install Heart of Winter and just skip this final battle but it is a frustrating experience been soooo close to finishing the IWD. I just purchased BGII from a second-hand store so I can still get my kicks and was about to purchase IWD2.
