Run away from the center of the room (head S).

Surprisingly, don't bother with any non-healing potions. In the early rounds you can't afford to take a round to drink them. Getting in some good shots on Belhefit's allies and/or running away is more useful. Also those Dispel magic traps will dispel the effects anyway.

Have only your single toughest melee fighter engage Belhefit to keep him occupied. If this fighter starts to take too much damage, send in another tough fighter and get your #1 fighter healed up quick.

Kill the Golems ASAP. If possible, engage them with ranged weapons, instead of melee. Once the golems are dead, engage Belhefit with ranged weapons. Why? You can spread your characters around the room and Belhefit cannot concentrate on any one of your characters.

This is a surprisingly easy way to beat Belhefit.

SPOILER NOTE:

If you're playing a HOW enhanced version of IWD, the Belhefit battle has been toughened up with a couple of (sp?) Couregan demons. Kill them ASAP as well.

Overall, the key to more easily defeating Belhefit is to kill his allies first. You cannot properly focus on Belhefit and keep one of your characters alive and running away from a couple of golems. You WILL forget that poor mage at some point and the golems will pound him into the floor.
