I think a cool idea for a specialist mage is a potion brewer. They would have some normal spells, but under special abilities, they have slots with pics of potions. One coul start off with potion of healing, then go to something like potion of storm giant strength. It would be cool. (then such a mage could go and start a shop in a broken flying machine that looks like a ship)
