I couldn't find out how to make a sword from scrath either...I just heavily modified an existing sword. Don't worry though, the original item will still show up.
I used Hell's Bane (I think that's the name.. you find it in SPOLIER!!!!!! Spolier!!! near the Jacklewares in luremaster)as a template. I made my sword and saved it to the override folder. I was testing it out and came across Hell's Bane....so I wouldn;t worry about jsut using another as a template...
