I don't think you find so much level-draining in IWD overall. however, just a suggestion in regards to BG...you might want to rethink your strategies and what not--nothing in the game is inherently difficult as hell (except maybe Kangaxx and Twisted Rune...) Speaking from experience, the difficulty arises when you don't compromise your playing style and strategy. overhaul those priest spells (negative plane protections are your friend), spend some cash on protection from undead scrolls, have your priest protect your party with defensive harmony, protection from evil 10', haste, and what have you...you shouldn't be getting level drained very often if you don't stick to the same spell lineup and exact same strategies every time.
