I always thought it was your alignment too, although reputation and alignment are of course quite closely bound. In any case, it's one of those two which decide the special abilities you receive.

It's not a good idea to post a message twice if you aren't new either. Not that anything bad will happen straight away, the assassins will have to fly over to your place first
